Setting up a Wix Account

This is free and is the place that holds your website.  It’s currently stored on my account but I’ll transfer ownership to you in due course.

 

Designing the Website

This is all done through Wix as it’s a powerful, reliable site and simple for you to maintain once my job is done.  Your site address is currently fourtoes.wixsite.com/aquaticfanatics and this is the ROOT location (where the website actually lives).  This will change once you set up your own account and I transfer it over.

 

Purchasing the Domain Name

This is the name you will have at the end of ‘www’ and ‘@’ in order to give your website & emails a professional look.  I suggest buying www.aquaticfanatics.co.uk through Google Domains, so that it can work seamlessly with the Google account you already have (more on that in a minute). Owning the domain name costs around £10-£15 per year. This is something you will need to purchase within your Google account so that it works within your current email address (I’ll show you how to do it).

 

Forwarding the Domain Name

This is so that, when someone types www.aquaticfanatics.co.uk into their browser, it will automatically divert to the ROOT location without them knowing.  There is no added cost to do this.

 

Removing Adverts from the website

Wix sites are all free, but they have advert banners at the top and bottom of every page.  To remove this costs in the region of £100 each year.    This is something I will leave with you to set up and subscribe to each year.

 

That’s it!

The only thing to do is update the website as necessary, with new pics or information.  This is entirely up to you and is very, very simple to do once the initial design work has been completed.  I will make a copy of the website when it’s done and store it on my account as a backup, but you’re free to design and maintain as you see fit.
